12 Mile Creek is located 5km east of Marmor in Central Queensland.
The site is a waterhole around 600m long at the upper tidal limit of the creek however only the largest spring tides reach the waterhole. It can range from totally fresh during high rainfall periods to hyper saline during very dry periods.
The site is considered a reference site for Barramundi recruitment in Central Queensland. A Camping and Water Reserve mostly cover the site and from 1999-2001 a revegetation project was undertaken on the reserve under a Natural Heritage Trust project.
