In 2009 the King Ash Bay Fishing Club in the Northern Territory was concerned at the decline in Barramundi in the McArthur River and were considering a fish stocking program to address the decline. It was decided that a baseline survey needed to be undertaken to determine the status of the fishery before any decision on stocking was made.

From 2009-2012 Xstratra provided funding to the fishing club and Infofish undertook an assessment of Barramundi stocks by collecting data on recreational catch and effort through boat ramp surveys and fish movement and growth through tagging. The data were then used to provide information to the community on the status of their fishery. Reports are available from http://info-fish.net/king-ash-bay/what-have-we-learned/.
